Six months after a survey revealed crime as Maryland residents’ top concern, NOTHING has changed. Democrats like Wes Moore promised solutions during election season, but now that votes are counted, Black communities continue to suffer. Auto thefts remain rampant, shootings plague our neighborhoods, and Democrat leaders offer nothing but excuses. It’s time for Black voters to demand accountability instead of blind loyalty.
Last October, “The Pulse” survey dropped a truth bomb that shook Maryland. Crime and drugs were the TOP concern for 41% of central Maryland residents, with Baltimore City residents the most worried at 50%. (Maryland Matters, October 2024)
Democrats like Wes Moore promised they’d fix things if elected. “Trust us,” they said. “We hear you,” they claimed.
Well, guess what? The elections are OVER. The votes are COUNTED. And six months later, NOTHING has changed!
Our communities still aren’t safe. Our kids still can’t play outside without us worrying. And those Democrat politicians who begged for our votes? They’ve MOVED ON to the next talking point.
Look around your neighborhood today. Are there fewer drug dealers? Less crime? More police protection?
The same problems continue – car thefts that doubled last year, armed robberies up, and police departments like Montgomery County’s still short nearly 200 officers. (Washington Post, March 2024)
Election promises have disappeared faster than a stolen car in Prince George’s County!
Meanwhile, these same Democrat leaders who claimed to care so much about crime during campaign season are silent now. No press conferences. No emergency action plans. No tough talk about getting criminals off our streets.
Why? Because they got what they wanted – YOUR VOTE. And they know they’ll probably get it again next time, no matter how badly they fail you.
Here’s the hard truth: When crime rises, Black neighborhoods suffer first and worst. Our businesses close. Our property values drop. Our children grow up thinking violence is normal.
Youth shootings that were already up 400% over the last decade continue to devastate our families. (Maryland Matters, January 2024) Each statistic is a real child with a bullet wound – usually a Black child from a community that votes 90% Democrat.
And what do we get in return for our loyal votes? Excuses. Blame. Talk about “root causes” while actual criminals walk free to victimize us again.
No wonder only 40% of Marylanders feel safe in their own state – well below the national average of 48%. (SafeWise, March 2025) That number hasn’t improved since the survey came out. If anything, it’s gotten worse!
It’s time for Black voters to STOP being a habit and START being a POWER.
As Black conservatives, we believe your vote is too valuable to give away for nothing. It should be EARNED through real results, not empty promises.
Think about it: If Democrats knew they might only get 60% of the Black vote instead of 90%, how much harder would they work to actually fix the crime in our neighborhoods?
That’s what political independence means – making BOTH parties compete for your vote based on RESULTS, not party labels.
With crime costing Maryland families about $1,428 per household in 2025, we literally can’t afford to keep supporting failed policies. (CrimeGrade.org, 2025) That’s money out of YOUR pocket because politicians failed to do their ONE basic job – keeping citizens safe.
Six months after that alarm-bell survey, what new ideas have Democrat leaders offered? What bold solutions have they implemented? What actual RESULTS have they delivered?
The answer: NONE.
Just more meetings. More studies. More talk about “comprehensive approaches” that never seem to actually reduce crime.
And when election time comes around again, they’ll suddenly rediscover their concern about crime, make the same empty promises, and expect the same loyal votes.
Isn’t it time we stopped this cycle?
Black voters, you have more power than you realize. You can DEMAND real results before giving your vote to ANYONE.
Ask the tough questions:
The path to safer communities isn’t blind loyalty to Democrats who take us for granted. It’s holding EVERYONE accountable and voting based on what they DO, not what they SAY.
Your vote is powerful. Use it wisely. Our communities can’t afford more of the same.
